Jack Trout at home in Orange County, CA

Hi Dee,
Certainly hope you had a wonderful Holiday. I have to say ours was wonderful with the addition of our new lively little guy. We spent Christmas morning sitting on the floor -- that's two old people (my husband and me) and three adult women (my daughters). In the middle of it all were Jack Trout and Molly (our senior fox hound princess). Except for the ages of the family members, it was a classic Christmas morning scene with happy dogs.
Jack is already a prominent member of the family. He's gained enough confidence now that he trots off ahead of me on the trails behind our house, and is gone so long, I fear I have lost him. Then, as I climb a hill and turn around a bend, there is he, waiting for me. Too cute for words. However, we are going to have to work on "come" and "no" because there are trails he shouldn't be exploring on his own (native California critters: coyotes and rattlesnakes). Right now, he happily ignores me.
It will come as no surprise to you to hear that he absolutely loves all the dogs he meets. It doesn't matter if it is a HUGE Great Dane or a Chihuahua, but Jack seems to have a special attraction to Golden Retrievers, and will even abandon me for the opportunity to trot off with a Golden. We have a great group of neighbors who let their dogs romp nearby every evening. Jack does "crazy puppy" around and around with them and doesn't seem to tire. His best pal for this evening craziness is a Portuguese Waterdog named Frodo. He tears through the grass with any dog who will run: Labs, boxers, multi-cultural hybrids -- he has such a great personality and can play with them all. I get asked what he "is" and where we found him all the time.
We are still working on sleeping through the night. He almost has it: staying quiet in his crate until after 5:30 a.m., however last night, even though I ran him like crazy, he whimpered and whined and started Molly barking which he joinned in at 3:15. I feel like a new mother again.
I have told others who are interested in goldendoodles about you, and directed them to your website. I hope it works out. I am attaching some pictures for you of Jack fresh from a bath and brushing, living on the "wild side" on the hill behind our house, and exploring with Sage, the Great Dane.
All the best to you.
Sincerely,
Susan Brandt

Dear Susan,
Thank you very much for sending us these wonderful photos of Jack. I'm glad to hear he's fit right into your family and has become a great asset. Sounds like he's found quite a few terrific and fun friends to frolic with!! Thanks for being the first one in 2009 to submit photos of our young adult doodles that were purchased in 2008.

Hi Dee,
It is so nice to hear from you. I absolutely LOVED your story about Jonathan. I completely believe it since dogs and music were some of his greatest passions in life. It is funny because this week was the 3rd anniversary of his passing so I of course have been thinking about him alot and to get your email with the story about him was just perfect timing - to know that he is watching over all of us. I am sorry he scared you though!! I am glad that you were able to figure out what was ailing you and I am hoping you are feeling better these days. Camper is just a joy in our life. She has the greatest personality and those beautiful blue eyes are show stoppers. I have attached a zip file of some of the best shots we have of her growing up. Your new litter of puppies are just adorable- people still can't believe we have a goldendoodle with blue eyes so I am so happy you were able to have more puppies with blue eyes because they truly are one of kind!
Thanks again for passing on the story about Jonathan. It made my month! I called my parents immediately and we had a few laughs and tears thinking about it.
All the best,
Kristen and Camper
p.s. let me know if the folder doesn't open and i can try something else.

Hi, dee!
I just wanted to tell you thank you, thank you, thank you for truly the most amazing dog we have ever had. We keep thinking she will outgrow this "perfect phase", but she is fast approaching her first bday, and i kid you not, she has never chewed anything, run away, or failed to come when we call her- ever! Mabel is getting so big, and she is just a true joy! don't know what we would have done without her. She goes everywhere we go. we love walks and trips to the park. She is wonderful- you have done a phenomenal job with these dogs!!!!
Thanks again- Hope you all are well!

Subject: Penny
Hi There!
It was good to hear from you.
Penny is great. I will send you several photos and let you pick which suits your needs the best.
Penny turned three in January and she is the best dog. She loves other animals and does not have an agressive bone in her body. My 6 year old still likes to use her as a pillow. She is so tolerant of the kids and their friends. Penny is also a great guard dog. She barks at the mailman and the pizza guy, but calms down immediately when I let her know they are not intruders. Penny is a total retriever and will tirelessly fetch the tennis ball.
The best part of all is her coat. She is very poodle-like with lots of curls. I tell everyone that she MUST be groomed ... but it is 100% worth it. She does not shed a bit. I never find furballs like with the other dogs I have owned. I can pet her in the morning and wear black to work without finding hundreds of hairs.
I am seriously considering a second Golden Doodle. I will call you if we decide to get Penny a playmate!!

Hi Dee!
Thank you so much for emailing! I've had pictures that I wanted to send, but I couldn't find your email and I never did get around to calling you for it.
Bailey and Tyson are doing great! They became big brothers in Sept when we had our first baby! As you can see in the pictures, they absolutely love her and are so sweet with her! They love to kiss her hands and feet. They just lay there and let her climb all over them. She can do no wrong in their world.
Tyson, the white one, just turned three March 16th. The vet tells us that he is a 'perfect specimen' and that his range of motion in his hips is extremely impressive. He is still a rascal and makes us laugh all the time! Tyson is still aournd 40lbs. Bailey is currently 74lbs! :)
Bailey turns four in June and he is the sweetest dog ever! He goes and checks on the baby every night before he goes to bed! Now, the Bay-dog, unlike Tyson, likes to lounge in the corner of the couch most of the day (as you'll see in one of the pictures) and tends to put on a little weight. He gained 10 pounds with me while I was pregnant! Now is that a sweet dog or what!? :)
Hope all is well with you!

Dee
Hi. Marsha and I hope that you guys had a good Fourth of July. Everything is going great with our new puppy. On the way to Statesville we kept going over possible names for our new family member. We narrowed the list down to about 20 or 25 possibilities. On the way back from meeting you we decided that we would have a name by the time we got back to Macon. Believe it or not . . . we came up with one that seemed just right. Daisy! (Actually, her full name is Daisy Doodle!)
We just wanted to let you know that Daisy is doing great. She’s everything (and more) that you promised over the phone. She has so much Golden Retriever in her that it’s incredible. You may remember talking with me over the phone about Shadow . . . our 17 year old Golden who we had to put down last year. Daisy has all of the characteristics that we loved about Shadow . . . always wanting to be with us . . . making eye contact . . . she has everything except Shadow’s intellect. (Thank God . . . Shadow was exactly a 100 watt bulb. Truth be known, she was more like a 15 watt night light . . . but we loved her anyway!)
We had Daisy spayed last Thursday. She’s recovering nicely and doing great. I was wondering if you needed me to photocopy and send the statement from the vet as verification of her being spayed?
Thanks so much and say hi to your husband!
Best wishes,
Al Stramiello
