ABOUT BEDLINGTON DOODLES
LACY....BEDLINGTON TERRIER
Dam is an adorable, loving...not to mention...MY BEST FRIEND....
Bedlington Terrier.   She comes from Champion bloodlines and is approx.  20 lbs;  As you can see, she is silver in color,  but she was a dark navy blue when she was a young puppy....as all Bedlingtons are unless they are going to turn chocolate as an adult....some call it liver.
Lacy's ancestry is loaded with Swedish Champions!!  She  and many of her ancestors are  CT 1. (clear)

Our beautiful puppies, while born  dark blue..should  be the same color as mommy...to the left.

The sire is a Toy, apricot Poodle named Ceasar.   He is approx. 8 lbs;  Ceasar is extremely sweet and we have HIS father who is very gentle and calm.  Ceasar has distant champion lineage.

This hybrid is great for those who do want a small indoor companion who will shed extremely little and have extremely low dander.   Their coat is silky soft.  Our Bedlington Doodles look like TOY SIZED BEDLINGTON TERRIERS.  Most purebred Bedlington Terrier breeders do not breed Bedlington Doodles and we do not know of anyone, other than ourselves,  who has created the mix...so we can't assist you in locating a Bedlington Doodle breeder if you are not interested in purchasing from us.

OUR DOODLES ARE MICRO-CHIPPED!
The sire (see  left)  to this litter is just 8 pounds and is apricot  in color.   When he was born, he was a very unique apricot with black tips.  He has produced beautiful colors in our Small Goldendoodles, Toy Poodles, LhasaPoo and Schnoodle pups.   Caesar's father,  Blue, has been with us since HE was 6 weeks old and he  is  a Toy Silver male  (see right).  Blue  is 6 years old...has always been a very calm, loving Toy   Poodle and very healthy.  He still, to this day, sires wonderful Schnoodles for us.

All of the puppies at birth were dark navy blue and a couple had white on the chest and paws.

Caesar is very sweet ike his father.  He is a great sire and weighs approx. 8 pounds.  He's never been  yappy,  high strung or a "bouncer" like most toy Poodles  and this comes from his calm mother and father that we have on our premises.

Our Bedlington Doodle pups express very outgoing, playful and sweet temperaments.

To the left, you see our Bedlington Doodles as newborns.  They appear to be black in color...but they aren't.  Actually they are very dark blue just like they would be if they were purebred Bedlington Terriers who would turn light silver as an adult.   Before we owned our own Beddies...we always thought they were WHITE as adults.  When in fact, they are NOT white at all.  They are very light silver or some can be liver in color.
Our doodles have their mother's coloring and will be very, very light silver as adults.   Some have really cute white markings on their chest and toes.
Bedlingon Terrier of LRK
Bedlington Terriers and all Poodles and Poodle hybrids are born with a smooth coat....with little ripples.   With hybrids,  the ripples indicate a very wavy, fluffy coat...of which these pups have.   We have NOT docked the tail of our Bedlington Doodles.   Most  purebred Bedlington Terriers have to worry about CT (Copper Toxicosis) and even tested Bedlingtons have proven to come down with CT,  even though the test was determined to be negative!   We have heard from quite a few people who have owned purebred Bedlington Terriers whose beddies had been negative through testing,  but still died of CT.     CT is a liver disease that seems to only affect the Bedlington Terrier.    CLICK HERE to read more about CT.   Fortunately, Lacy's father is a Champion show dog,  CT1 and her mother is CT1,  not a show dog...but does come from show lineage.   Lacy comes from an outstanding  Champion lineage that has been tested negative  for CT.    Lacy is very healthy and nearly 3 yrs of age.

Bedlington Terrier/Poodle hybrids,  however,  do not ever have to worry about having CT if the mother is not a carrier.   Poodles, in general,  do not have the  pre-disposition for this disease or carry the genes for CT.  Because they do not possess or carry the gene, the parents to our Bedlington Doodles  can not pass it on to their  offspring.   Our puppies  are available to  anyone seeking an extremely low shedding, indoor, intelligent  companion.  Both parents  are very gentle, curious dogs and the mother is a usual companion in my bed.   Smart as a whip,  curious and outgoing,  both parents  get along with cats and other family pets.  We recommend this hybrid  to anyone who has mild  allergy problems and a sensitivity to dog hair.   This hybrid can be a good "alert" dog but is not  "yappy", high strung  or considered a "biter".
At 4 weeks, Our adorable little Beddie doodles are  learning how to eat from mom's bowl and as usual, we add baby food in with the canned Puppy Pedigree wet and the Puppy Pedigree dry along with warm water.  They love the taste of baby food fruits!
They are getting fluffier by the day and are now closer to 4 weeks old!  One of the pups has white "socks" so that is what I call him.     Their coat is very, very soft....getting sooo fluffy and they are now wobbling around and playing with each other.

Simply adorable!

For those naysayers who enjoy emailing negative comments to  breeders regarding hybrids..of whom they feel are causing "damage" to the purebred industry... such naysayers need to further educate themselves.  It is the purebred industry that has the most genetic flaws and complications occuring with their dogs...not those who breed hybrids.  To the right is a photo of one of our silver Bedlington Doodle puppies at the age of 22 weeks.  Not only does he have the beauty of his purebred mother, but he will enjoy a much healthier life than his purebred counterparts because he will never have to worry about CT complications.  Hybrids (when not inbred or backbred)  are entirely healthier than purebred dogs and they will always be here for those like us, who love them.  The reason they are healthier than purebred dogs is because neither parent is related in any way providing they are F1...first generation.   This allows for more positive genes into the gene pool rather than negatives from back-bred, in-bred and line-bred purebred dogs.  We have personally received alot of emails from Bedlington Terrier owners whose beddie had been tested negative for CT and yet, died of liver failure because they still came down with it!!!!  The more we receive email from those who have had their dogs die of diseases and ailments that came from breeding dogs who had been tested and given clearances.....the more convinced we are that we are  correct to say that no matter how much testing is done on  purebred dogs,  they can still create offspring that can eventually have genetic or non-genetic ailments and diseases occur.  It is a noble thing for breeders to test their breeding dogs...but tested dogs who were given a clearance of issues  can still die of either genetic or non-genetic ailments and can still create offspring who will, in turn, do the same thing.

Thank you for visiting our Goldendoodle Web Site!
Lake Ridge Goldendoodles is The place for Goldendoodle owners to share their doodle dogs, photos and stories.  We are  doodle owner recommended and advertise  on numerous  Doodle breeder's lists across the net,  many doodle hybrid  and other canine resources.  The Goldendoodle gets its name from its mixed heritage .... golden retriever and poodle.  The Poodle can be of any size.  Goldendoodles are a hybrid dog, a first generation cross, and as such they can  exhibit hybrid vigour.  Hybrid vigor, however, has not been scientifically proven and is thus the personal opinion shared by many Poodle hybrid breeders. The hybrid cross between these two parent breeds are very  family oriented dogs, friendly, intelligent, loving, cuddly and very affectionate. The Goldendoodle is  easy to train.  You will find  our Lake Ridge Goldendoodle site the largest, most comprehensive and extensive doodle site on the net.  Our DOODLE PLANET provides information regarding the shedding, coat phases of a Goldendoodle.  The Goldendoodle is a low shedding dog and does work out well for many who have allergies.  The goldendoodle, however, is NOT a hypo-allergenic dog regardless of how many people desire to believe this.  Goldendoodles come in all sizes and colors.  There are no "rare" markings for a Goldendoodle.  A doodle dog's coat is generally very thick, shaggy and wavey as an adult.  Sometimes the doodle can have a flat or curl coat.  Their tail rides high above the back and is curled over.  Some doodles sport long ears and some doodles sport ears that are short but flip over at the tips.  Despite the fact many breeders claim   they breed "Miniature Goldendoodles",  the Kennel standard for a Miniature sized dog is NOT to stand over 15" in height from the highest point of the shoulders and they should not weigh over 25 pounds as an adult.  Kennel Standards do apply to ALL MINIATURE SIZED DOGS REGARDLESS OF BREED.  Any dog weighing over twenty five pounds as an adult is not considered to be a Miniature sized dog.  The size of the Poodle does not define the size of goldendoodle offspring.  The Goldendoodle's entire lineage plays 100% in the genetic make up of a Goldendoodle.

Silver Bedlington Doodle
We have just 1 dark silver blue  male Bedlington Doodle left for sale.  UKCI registered with a superb Champion lineage.  The photo up above left is before his haircut and the photo above right is after his haircut. This male is a dark silver blue like his grandfather and has a very sweet temperament.  As of 8/06, he is one year old.  Please don't ask us "Why is he still available".  None of the pups in his litter were handpicked...we assign all of our puppies to our customers.  He's obviously still available because no one has submitted an application to purchase him.  This dog is very healthy......looking for a family home without toddlers.  This is not a small child's pet.  Bedlingtons are very loving but are a bit put off by children who grab at them and uneasy around small kids.  Bedlington Doodles do not like being chased; they are not going to chase your kids but will be very happy to sit in someone's lap being pet.  This male is under 20 pounds and has been shaved down for the summer.  If you desire to adopt him, he MUST BE NEUTERED before leaving for your home.  This fee  is NOT included in his price of $350.  His vaccinations are current.  CLICK ON OUR CANINE APPLICATION IF YOU DESIRE TO ADOPT HIM.  We prefer a home without small children.  This male, as all of our puppies, has been raised indoors but is now  outdoors with his dad.  We do not permit browsing. All pups and dogs are pre-paid with a submitted application.  Please do not ask us to allow you to bring your own dogs to our home to "see if he will get along with them".  We will not place our puppies or dogs at risk to outside dogs regardless of how "calm or obedient or healthy " you feel your personal dog to be.
