On 2-19-04, we received some lovely pictures of Molly and Murphy....two of our beautiful black doodles from Hallies' litter. They both now reside in California.
Mrs. Head writes: We have signed up for obedience classes starting March 4th. We are looking forward to "learning" how to enjoy our dogs and the puppy in them is evident. They have slept through the night without incident except for the very first night. We have had to keep a closer eye on them and being smart about knowing when to let them out. Molly is the inquisitive one and is always looking for some trouble to get into! Murphy gets into his share of mischief as well. We have really enjoyed their affection and watching their antics. We could use some more sleep, but it has been worth it. Thanks for your choice in the two pups that you sent to us. We have had a very good experience with you from the very beginning to the very end.
Take care! Hope this comes through for your enjoyment!
MOLLY- LRK DOODLE
Melissa and Molly take a nap after the pups' flight home. The middle picture is Molly and Murphy sharing a bowl....of course, even though they both have their own bowls.....the last picture is of Handsome Murphy.
Thank you Mrs. Head for letting us know how Molly and Murphy are! We are also glad to hear they are adjusting well and enjoying their antics with you. It looks like Melissa is very happy with her first doodle! Keep in contact and we look forward in hearing from you soon!
On 2-22-04, we received two great pictures of HOOPS......one of our Lake Ridge Doodles who now resides in Indiana. Donna writes:
Dear Dee,
I am finally getting a letter to you about Hoops....he is doing great! I am so amazed his intelligence. He was crate trained in just over 2 weeks. By the time the 2 weeks was over, there was a well worn path in our backyard. He learns very quickly the commands that we teach him. His vet comes out to the waiting room to play with him and "retrieve" him for his appointment. He is the official first Goldendoodle in the vets' practice.
Hoops loves our kids and is very tolerant of our preschooler. I am enclosing a couple of pics. These were taken when he was five months old. They show how fluffy he has become and his absolutely sweet face!!! He weighed 37 lbs. at that age. Thank you for breeding such wonderful dogs!!!! We absolutely LOVE Hoops being in our family.
Sincerely,
Donna
Dear Donna,
Thank you for sending us these beautiful pictures! I couldn't resist placing them in our special frames. Hoops has become quite handsome and I see he has a really cute blue spot on his tongue!!! His coat texture looks like you just want to scoop him up and cuddle with him.
We would love to know what his height and weight is when he turns 1 year old.
Have a great 2004!
Murphy------An LRK Doodle
3-4-04: Meet "CHAPPY"......this little beauty is one of our apricot babies that left right before Christmas, 2003. He is extremely happy living with his family and children in Charlotte, NC. Lake Ridge Kennel has very few doodles in the state of NC.....but we do welcome more customers from our own area! Chappys' owners report that he is very well loved.....is a welcome addition to their family and the kids just love him to death!
THANKS VERY MUCH FOR SENDING THESE GREAT PICTURES.....WE ARE GLAD WE COULD GIVE YOUR CHILDREN A CHRISTMAS GIFT THAT JUST KEEPS ON GIVING! Happy Holidays to you and your family.
Dee
3-19-04: Meet Duece and the kids! My how he has grown! Mrs. LaMonica sent these great pictures of Duece and his playmates and he is absolutely adorable! We see he is completely comfortable in hogging all the room!
Thanks so much for these great shots and we enjoy getting feed-back from all of our customers who keep in contact.
4-2-04: The Culpepper family came all the way from Tennessee to make their doodle selection and we see they have found their perfect match; This lovely lass is out of Queenies' litter and already she is a ham!
On 4-10-04, we receieved this email and lovely pictures from R. Passarelli .
She writes:
"Hi Dee!,
I finally figured out the whole picture, email thing! We love our doodle! She is soooo sweet and sooooo smart! I will send more pictures real soon. I have attached pictures from the very beginning (picking up at the airport) up until now. We named her Sydney Madison. Thanks again for everything and ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!

Dear R.,
Thank you so much for these wonderful pictures of Sydney and your family.
Your smiles say it all!
On April 3, 2004 we received this wonderful picture of a doodle pup named "Biscuit".
Her mom writes:
Hi Dee,
Thank you so very much for selecting our little boy out of Sadies' litter. He has become the perfect little addition to our family.
He is mild, lovable and very obedient. Our children have decided to name him "Biscuit". We will keep in contact and let you know how he is doing.
Thank you again!
The Gillelands and Biscuit
Thanks so much for sending this picture! Biscuit looks like he has already made himself right at home! I am sure he has fallen in love with your family and the girls! We look forward in hearing from you again as Biscuit continues to grow!
Dee
On 4-07-04, R. Cherfane sent us this email. She and her boys picked up a great puppy out of Nikis' litter.....an apricot male. She writes:
"Hi Dee,
"Duke" is adjusting beautifully! He is sooo sweet and cute, and we just love him! I am amazed at how smart he is. He lets us know when he needs to go out and he learned how to "sit" in 5 minutes!!!! We are working on walking on a leash and the stay command. As you said, he is an active one. As of right now he doesn't seem to be phased by anything except the basset hounds' bark from across the street. He has also found his voice, which he thinks is cool to use, but I have a different thought on that one! Crate training is difficult but I am hoping that it will get easier for him and I soon.
I'll send some pictures as soon as I can. I can tel already he is just perfect for us. Thanks for much for everything!
R. Cherfane
PS: Here is a new picture! I wanted to send this pic of Duke. He's so wonderful and is doing great! House Training is going well. He's a quick learner. If I can get him to stop eating everything he comes across outside, we might be able to actually go for a nice walk! We should have called him "HOOVER"...for the vacumm cleaner!
You are welcome to use this picture on your website if you like.. We'll keep you posted.
R. Cherfane
Hi and thanks so much for taking the time to drive out and allow us to meet you and your boys! It was very nice meeting all of you! We are simply thrilled that Duke is working out great for you and I am sure, as he grows out of the puppy stage, that you will find training much easier. Yes...all of our doodles are quite active and playful......after all, they are so use to seeing me on a constant basis that they believe you should always be accessible to them! Of course they don't realize YOU NEED SLEEP TOO! ;o)
We look forward in seeing more pictures as he ages and thanks again for choosing Lake Ridge Kennel for your doodle needs! We are glad we could help you out after all the difficulty you had at being able to obtain a doodle.
ps: Thanks so much for this picture up above! What a cutie! We have some pups left for sale who are now 10wks old and they look just like Duke! Fluffy, cute and very outgoing and playful.
On May 15, 2004...the Lemley family picked up their beautiful apricot female doodle our of Saras' litter.
This little lovely lass will reside in Charlotte, NC and we look forward in hearing about her progress as she ages.
On May 13-04, we received this nice letter from the Hulsebusch family:
Yankee has been a great joy to have. He is such a proud puppy and is so eager to please. I can't believe how much obedience training he has already learned.
Our 10 year old has been in heaven these past 2 weeks.
Thank you so much for the great addition to our family.
The Hulsebubuschs'
Hi and thanks so much for your nice letter! We are sorry to hear about your loss of your long time family member but are very glad to know that Yankee has brought love and happiness back into your home. Our Goldendoodles have such a wonderful way of melting hearts as they are so eager to provide the love and comfort from those who seek it. It is funny that we hear the very same words over and over..... "I can't believe how incredibly smart your Goldendoodles are"....as we hear this all the time. We know this is true....but until someone owns one of our doodles, they find that its hard to believe a dog can be such a smarty pants!
Another statement we hear all the time is how beautiful our doodles are. Pictures don't really show just how silky soft their coat is....how pretty they are and how fluffy soft they really are. We provided this picture to the right until you are able to send pictures to us of Yankee. The pups to the right are puppies from Trixie....a petite Golden Retriever and Angels' pup.....the pups are apricot.
The one thing we noticed about Yankee (and we noticed quite alot of great qualities about him) is how majestic he acted....he knows he is gorgeous and he would always lay with his head held high. He was quite calm and enjoyed being fussed over! It doesn't surprise me that he is eager to please you because he is a very proud puppy with loads of intelligence.
In May, 2004 we received this note from the "Quiggly" family:
Kim writes:
Just a quick note. Hershey is doing very well. She is so soft and adorable.....a real chick magnet for our son!!! We'll send more infor and some pictures soon.
At 12 weeks, she weighs 16.8 pounds and keeping us busy!
Thanks again,
Kim Quiggly
Hi Kim! I have placed this picture above since this girl is identical to your chocolate puppy, Hershey. This girl is Hersheys' sister and also out of Maras' litter. This beautiful girl now resides in Florida with her very happy owners!
We look forward in getting pictures from you so that we know how tall she is at the age of one year. We hope all is still well and that you are continuing to enjoy her companionship.
Dee

Continue to visit our other web links as we have extensive canine information that may be of help to you! Crate training, issues about canine diseases, information about canine hip and bone disorders, shipping information, loads of goldendoodle pictures and other issues you may find helpful are available to the general public! Our Goldendoodles are the best kept secret for a family pet!
This little boy is out of Mystees' litter and we thank his owner for submitting this picture to us. Funny that Mystee is a Poodle and her pups as well as Juels' pups looked more like Golden Retrievers in the very beginning than any of our Golden Retrievers' doodles!
Just goes to show .....with hybrids...one never knows! This little boy was born in 2004.
His name is "Happy"....and he lives up north.
We don't yet have a name for this little girl, out of Sadies' litter...but E. Miller of Florida sent us some great pictures of her and we thought we'd spruce them up a bit! This pup was out of Sadies' litter and was the last to go, but certainly the apple of her mothers' eye! She is the sister to "Gilda"...you can meet her by CLICKING HERE. E. Miller says this little girl rules the house and goes to work with her each and every day and that she delights everyone who comes into contact with her. We know that it is impossible for anyone to pass by one of our doodles and NOT have a compliment to give them.....they are just too loving and too gorgeous! Thanks Eleanor for the pictures....we had fun with them and look forward to more! MAKE SURE TO VISIT OUR DOODLE STORE !!! WE HAVE MUGS AND MORE!
On June 16th, 2004, we received this great picture (sorry, we will update it with a much larger version shortly) from N. P. of Chicago, Ill.....this lovely lass was the only apricot female in Maras' litter and my how she has grown!
N.P. writes:
"Dee,
Here is a picture of our lovely "Daisy".....she's doing great!!!! I love her so much I can't stand it!!! Sheis learning the whole potty training thing and so smart its unreal! She has already learned the word "sit"!!!
Here is a photo to show you how she is doing....thank you so much for everything!
N.P.
Dear N.P.,
I am so very glad you were able to obtain this puppy out of Maras' litter because I know you are providing her the best home she could have possibly found! Mara was a really good mommy to her puppies and I am glad that Daisy has become a great addition to you and your simply adorable daughter....I love all the curls in her hair!
On 6-25-04, The Buyse Family from Charlotte, NC came to pick up their beautiful apricot female Goldendoodle puppy from Trixies' litter.
We know their children will have tremendous fun with their new doodle. This little girls' sister is moving to Boston, Mass. and she looks just like her.
We hope to get pictures as they grow!
On 6-25-04 we received a lovely card from the Hager family that included some wonderful pictures of their doodle, Jordan. The Hagers wrote:
Hi Dee,
We just wanted to drop you a note to let you know how well Jordan is doing. She is such a great dog and really seems happy in her new home. The family just loves her!!! She sure loves to swim and dig in her water bowl. Enclosed are pictures of her with my son Jack and my daughter Lauren. Thanks again for all your help, Dee. Jordan is almost five months old.
The Hager family
Hi and thanks so much for these lovely pictures! Jordan is a doll and looks just like the puppies we had out of Trixies' litter....but I think Jordan is out of Mystees' litter, isn't she?
I could be wrong. We had six litters of doodles when you got yours. I am glad she is doing great and your kids look happy as can be! We look forward to more pics as she ages!
Take care!
Dee
Jordan and Lauren having some playtime fun!
Jordan and Jack looking all snuggly and cozy!
Jordan is a beautiful apricot Lake Ridge Goldendoodle who clearly is having a wonderful time with her new family in Ill.
On 7-2-04, Aimee and her dad drove all the way from New Jersey to pick up their darling doodle! Yep.....looks like a great match! Aimee was in Doodle heaven upon viewing her new puppy and this little guy was all too happy to show off for her and her dad! We sincerely wish you guys the best and look forward in getting pictures as he grows! This gorgeous and fluffy apricot guy is the son of Trixie and Darby.
You are welcome to send as many pictures as you like....the more pictures we have, the easier it is to create an entire page for your personal doodle!
Thank you for joining our doodle world!
Dee
On 7-7-04, we received this lovely picture from C. Head regarding their beautiful silver and black Goldendoodles....Molly & Murphy...who now reside in California. Her email reads:
Hi Dee,
You asked for some info on our puppies. They were born 12/1/03 from Hallies's Comet and Cocoa Moe. Molly is now about 25" tall and weighs 45 pounds....is silver now.... and Murphy is 26" tall and weighs 55 pounds. (both have been spayed and neutered). In the recent picture (with "grandma"), they are about 5 1/2 months old. They have both been through puppy classes and obedience training classes. We had them groomed today and Molly really shows up her silver tint. We will get more recent pictures to you...we'd like to send you more pictures so that you can create a page for them. Take care!
Thanks so much for sending this beautiful picture......I was surprised to see that Molly turned silver....they were both so jet black when they left.
I guess you may want to contact Universal Kennel Club to tell them to send you a new registration showing she is silver instead of black. We look forward in getting alot more pictures so that we can create their very own page!
Dee
On 7-10-04, we received this very nice card from Julie of Ohio. Julie lost her beautiful Quincy to cancer and we had spoken via telephone regarding her loss and our Goldendoodles.
Dear Julie,
Thank you for your kind words and for the lovely card. We are deeply saddened of your loss of Quincy. We know that words could not really console you of your loss, but we do understand how you are feeling and offer our greatest sympathies to you and your family. Our doodles could not even possibly replace Quincy, but they are so full of love and eager to please, that they certainly would bring great happiness back into your life and help fill the void. When you are ready to open your heart to one of our very loving and beautiful doodles, just give us a jingle!
Best wishes!
Dee
On July 19, 2004....we received an issue of FORBES magazine (July 5th, 1004) from Lori and Rick Randall who own one of our splendid Goldendoodles born 08/03......LUCKY.
Lori says that Lucky is approx. 55 or 58 pounds and I am guessing he is about 26" tall.....just going by the photo. This wonderful photo was taken by Brownie Harris of FORBES MAGAZINE and the article inside of FORBES MAGAZINE was written by Rich Karlgaard.
Thank you so much, Lori, for calling us and letting us know Lucky and your husband, Rick, was inside of this issue and for sending me the magazine. After your phone call, I spent three hours driving all over Salisbury, NC trying to obtain this magazine and to my dismay,
many people HERE did not even know about FORBES MAGAZINE!
Talk about living your life with your head stuck in the sand! They do need to get out more!hahaha
As it turned out, however, my friends' daughters' husband gets Forbes, and she actually looked through her basket to find the magazine......but because she lives in South Carolina and they were going to the beach, I still had not been able to get my hands on the magazine to see this fantastic picture!!!! My friend ordered two back issues, but has yet to receive them. When the magazine came in the mail from you sending it to me....LIKE A PROUD MOMMY....I showed it to everybody and anybody who'd listen and look!hahaha
Still haven't heard from Bruce Springstein or his wife, Patty, of whom met you and your wonderful Lake Ridge Goldendoodle, Lucky, while in New York at an ice cream parlor......but one can hope!haha
At least I can say that THE BOSS and his wife laid hands on my Goldendoodle and were very smitten with him!hahaha
Take care, you guys and again....THANK YOU SO VERY, VERY MUCH FOR THIS WONDERFUL SURPRISE!!!!!
Meet "TAG".....he is a Lake Ridge, red, GREEN EYED Goldendoodle who is nearing 6 months of age as of 7-19-04.
On 7-19-04, we received this note from The Marantz family who reside in Florida near Tampa:
"Hi Dee,
Enclosed is proof of neutering for our dog, Tag; also a picture. He is almost 6 months and weighs 39 pounds. Tag is bright, loving and as you can see, very beautiful! We are very happy to be sharing our lives with him.
Sincerely,
Anne Marantz
Thank you very much, Anne, for this lovely picture of Tag as well as proof of neutering. You are the only one out of this litter to have sent us an updated picture......it is wonderful to see how lovely our green eyed Goldendoodles turn out to be!
I also notice that Tag is going to be on the "small" side....he has approx. just four more months of growth left, so I do not see him getting over 45 pounds when he reaches 1 year of age.....his weight on his 1st birthday will be his genetic weight. We always get varying sizes within any given litter....it just works out that way!
We are curious as to his height....from the photo, he appears to be approx. 20" tall......we'd love to see a photo of him when he also turns 1 year of age and to know what his height/weight is so we can place it along with our other data.
Thanks and give Tag a huge hug for us!
Dee
On July 24th, 2004 we received this cute card from Dee Conlin in New Jersey to let us know how her doodle, Sydney was doing. We are very glad to hear she is doing great! Since this card can be read easily, we won't repeat the script. Below there are some beautiful pictures that Dee enclosed and we thank her so much for sending them our way!!!!!
Give Sydney a hug for us!!! She is as cute as can be!!!!
Dee
<<<<<<<<<<<<< This is Sydney being a typical doodle!!!!!
What a hilarious and adorable photo showing what a doodle loves to do best!hahaha
Lovely photos up above showing Sydney.....who resides with her favorite family, Dee, Ryan and Ray in New Jersey.....playing with her toy and loving the attention from her two best pals! Dee also tells us that Sydneys' neighbor is "May Brooks"......so, we have added Mays' picture to the right...this is her doodle friend>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Sydney was born to Sadie on 1-25-04 and is every bit as fluffy as all of our other doodles!
On 9/15/04 we received this nice email :
Hello,
I just wanted to send a quick note and thank you for such an informative page on goldendoodles! I found it to be very helpful in my quest to learn more about these adorable dogs. I have a ten year old Golden Retriever whom is a one of a kind and loved beyond any other and is a wonderful dog. I know I will never come across another like him. I also have a 2 yr old and a 3 yr old child and I have decided that it is probably time to purchase another puppy for them and my dog, Basil, to have fun with.
I knew I would not settle for anything less than a Golden when I ran across this breed!
They sound wonderful and I am very thankful I found your website so that I could read about them. I got so much information out of your site that it is not even funny. Purchasing a puppy is a huge step that we are looking forward to, but nothing we want to just jump right into without being prepared with knowledge.
It is very important to myself regardless of whatever puppy I decide to purchase and we hope it is one Basil will adore. I hope that whenever we get our new puppy, it will pick up some of the traits that are instilled in Basil as I never bred him and now he is just plain too old. He is papered to the hilt so to speak and I really never found any in my area that I thought was for him. I don't care about the papers but I do care about the temperament and like I said, there is no other that I have found that I thought was for him.
Thanks again for your website. I am bookmarking it and will visit often in my quest.
Best wishes in your puppies and breeding.
A.M.
THANK YOU for sending me this very nice email even though you have not yet purchased from our kennel! The purpose of our website is for those, like yourself, seeking a Goldendoodle but who are not familiar with this hybrid and can learn a great deal about them to see if they would fit into your life-style. Not everyone is appreciative of the extensive amount of information.....we do get complaints of our site having "TOO MUCH TO READ"....but a simple phone call could NOT, in anyway, cover all the information that we have on our site!
This website has been online for many years and as time goes by, I too am learning new things. I enjoy sharing information and so, when I find something I could be helpful to others, it is posted.
We hope you will consider a doodle for your next dog...but please do not purchase a doodle for your "ten year old Golden Retriever". A dog who has been the "only child" for ten years is not going to immediately jump for joy you have brought in a complete stranger ....especially a rambunctious one! If you are going to purchase a doodle...do so because YOU want one.....but not for your other dog. Granted, they can learn to live happily together....but we have found that older dogs...especially senior dogs....are not so delighted their owners has brought a new dog into "its" home.
On 10/6/04, we received this kind letter and wonderful pictures of Roxy and her family. Roxy is the daughter of Mara and was one of our silver doodle pups in her litter:
"Hi Dee!,
Here is an update on Roxy. We picked her up on 8/25/04 at the airport.....being a bit apprehensive because she was a six month old puppy. However, Roxy has acclimated fantastically to our family in just 6 short weeks.
She is a very smart, loving, quiet dog. Any family fortunate to have a doodle is a wonderful experience for all. Roxy was housebroken in a few days and she sleeps through the night on her bed in our kitchen.
We very rarely her a sound out of her. She loves to run and I am in the process of installing an invisable fence so that she can get a good workout.
I have taken her to my parents for a visit in the nursing home and she will sit quietly in my lap. (On one visit, she jumped up on my fathers' bed and licked his face, bringing tears to my eyes!) She could be a visiting (Therapy) dog with her temperament! She willingly goes up to patients and lets them pet her.
Every where we go, we get questions as to what type of dog she is and remarks on what a beautiful dog she is. The multi-colored coat is really an eye catcher!!!!
I still don't understand why she was still available (when we were able to purchase her) after 6 months! Many potential owners missed out on what I call the "Perfect dog!!!!!!!!". She is like a big teddy bear and loves to lie on her back and have her belly rubbed. We started obedience school and she is the most sociable, friendly student in her class!
Thank you for all of your attention when we were talking about getting Roxy. You run a first class operation and Roxy shows the care you give your animals. You are very privilaged to send so much love to families by way of your doodles. We wish you many more years of continued success to you and your family!
I will keep ou posted time to time with new pictures.
Paul
Hi Paul!
First of all, I want to thank you for sending such a nice letter and lovely pictures of Roxy and your family! Your girls look so very happy and this is exactly what our kennel strives for!
We here it time and time again, how loving, smart and wonderful our doodles are and how quick they are to pick up on the training! We are simply delighted she has adjusted to your family and that she has turned out to be a perfect match!
While I, too, can not understand why people pass over a wonderful Goldendoodle based on color .......people have their preferences and that is just the way it is. I can tell people until I am blue in the face of how wonderful our dogs are regardless of size, gender or color.......but no one believes it until, like you, take the plunge and see for yourself.
Color should never matter.....but many do have color preferences....personally speaking, I think a dog, regardless of color, gender or size, can be the best companion when bred with wonderful genes. We wish you and your family continued doodle success as well!
Meet "KATIE".....she is one of our lovely apricot Goldendoodles that now resides in Burlington, NC. Katie was purchased by J.P. on 10/7/04. J.P. writes:
"Hello Dee!,
Sorry for the delay in emailing you to let you know that the puppy we purchased from you on 10/7/04 is doing great. Here are a couple of pictures of her....we named her Katie. Although Katie loves to dig in the sand at the beach, she does not like the sun! She would rather be inside than outside. Thank you so much for such a wonderful dog! I can't believe how sweet she is...keep up the good work!
Hi J.P.!! Thank you so much for the lovely photos! Katie looks as adorable as all of our doodles created by our kennel. I also wanted to let you know that I appreciate your photos more so because of the negative postings by some "Magical Critiques" on the doodle forums............according to these "Magical Critiques", our doodles are not worth buying and the list of nonsensical, negative and malicious propaganda goes on and on. The funny thing is....these "Magical Critiques" have such unique magical powers that they can review our products without even buying them, seeing them....knowing us or our puppies!!!!!!! I find their postings more amusing than irritating because it makes me realize that there are plenty of people in this world who actually believe they are possessed with extensive magical powers and the majority of them hang out in the doodle forums! I'd like you read down from some email I received by a person who purchased a "doodle" from a breeder that had gotten a high review from the owner of the Goldendoodle forum!!! Continue downward.....................
Meet "Riley"....no...not our Riley.....a "DOODLE" from a different breeder, whose owner named him Riley. His owner, H.T. sent us this picture along with their email. They had a question about the coat since their "Riley" seemed to look so much like a Golden Retriever rather than a fluffy, wavey coated Goldendoodle like on our website. H.T. had written me and I responded to her and this is her response to my response:
"Hello! Thank you so much for your response. It means alot! I just called the breeder and asked what our Goldendoodles' parents were and she said they were both Goldendoodles and that our puppy is a 2nd generation doodle. However, he (his name is Riley, like your "About Riley") has no poodle curl or wirey hairs. Being a 2nd generation doodle, I can see where his 2 littermates were very wooley, curly coated but I don't understand how 2 Goldendoodles bred together can produce a puppy that looks like a purebred Golden Retriever. I am enclosing a picture of him so that you can see what I am talking about. I am not so interested in having a curly coat GD but just wondering how genetics made ours so much more like a Golden REtriever. Thank you so much for your expertise and taking the time to answer since in all truth, I am not a concern of yours.
Very sincerely,
H.T.
My response to her was pretty much like my responses on this link....CLICK HERE if you wish to read the facts about doodles. I also noticed, when looking at this photo that the breeder had docked the tail and I questioned H.T. about this. Here is her third email to me:
"I did not trust the breeder when she said that he was a 2nd generation doodle because when I first called regarding her ad for Goldendoodles, she said that her Golden Retriever was the sire and the mother was a Goldendoodle. Could this be the reason that he looks like a Golden Retriever??? Is that what you meant when you said that the Poodle is bred out of them? It is hard to know what the truth is since I got 2 different stories from the breeder. I also asked why his tail was docked and she said because people find them more adorable this way. Yes, you can use my letter if you leave my name off. Maybe it will help pthers out there who are going to adopt a Goldendoodle and inform them to buy from a trustworthy breeder like your family. You can use my initials H.T.
Of course my family has bonded with Riley and we will keep him. Hopefully he won't shed as much as a Golden Retriever since there is SOME poodle in there somewhere. My daughter is 14 years old and has allergies but as long as she does not place the dogs near her face, she is okay. She does this anyway since she is an animal lover and then reaches for the Clariton.
Thanks so much.
H.T.
Thanks so much for sending this photo H.T. and for allowing us to use the photo as well as your emails on our site! Your puppy is still very cute......he is just not a doodle....but a cute Golden REtriever with a docked tail. I still am at a loss for words on why any breeder would dock the tail of their Goldendoodle if it appears to have more Golden Retriever genes. Making the decision to dock a puppy's tail is a difficult one because the breeder has to make the decision within the first few days of the pup's life. We will occasionally dock a Goldendoodle puppy's tail if we feel the puppy has picked up more Poodle genes than the Golden Retriever genes, but we do not do this very often. Breeders who back-breed a Goldendoodle to a Poodle may dock the doodle pups' tail because the coat may pick up more Poodle and leaving the tail undocked, in such a case, causes the doodle to not look as attractive...but beauty is in the eye of the beholder! Personally speaking, if the doodle has a curlier or wavier coat, the tail should be docked for a more attractive appearance. The tail can be too narrow and not have enough plume giving the pup the appearance of having a skinny tail...so, some breeders dock the tail and some don't. It is the personal choice of the breeder. I also may be wrong...but I don't believe you are going to get any of the low shedding. While genetics are hard to understand, it is very easy for me to see why a breeder should NEVER BREED A DOODLE TO A DOODLE!!!!!!!!!!! Also, if that breeder wanted to keep the shedding down....she should have never bred a doodle to a Golden REtriever! This took most of the Poodle out of the puppies and sadly, in your case, here is a classic example for staying away from inexperienced doodle breeders who don't know what they are doing and really do a disservice to customers who seek out the doodle for allergy purposes. At any rate, good luck to you and thank you so much for sharing your story with me and now with others who read this.
To my left is a picture of a "Doodle" named Riley that his owner had contacted me regarding his coat. I had asked them if I could use their email and photo to place on my website so that I could use this as a classic example of WHY NOT to purchase a doodle from an in-experienced or irresponsible breeder who breeds "DOODLES TO DOODLES" and then goes on to make ridiculous claims they can't back up. Unfortunately for this new doodle owner, she was referred to the breeder by the owner of the Goldendoodle forum............who just so happens to be what I like to term a "Magical Critique". She is possessed with all knowing magical powers to tell people whom TO BUY FROM AND WHOM NOT TO BUY FROM, even though she, herself is NO EXPERT on dogs much less a doodle breeder and has no real factual EXPERIENCE whatsoever to hand out such advice. But hey....THIS WOMAN IS MAGICAL AND SHE HAS FOLLOWERS LIKE SHE IS THE DOODLE PIED PIPER....but see...those with magical powers can do this! READ ON!
January 2005, D. Kunkle sent us these lovely photos of a Goldendoodle male she got from us in 2004........His name is Riley. Seems to be a popular name!
Riley has gotten much larger since leaving us and he has a friend who lives with him....a lovely Golden Retriever who is much larger than him.
Thanks D. for sending us these lovely photos. I could not find your email to place your comments...I do apologize. Since my husbands' motorcycle accident, things have been a bit hectic around here....but they are improving slowly over time!
If you wish to write us back with more info, hopefully I won't lose it and can place it here next to Rileys' photos.
He is simply adorable and I can tell, very attentive and smart!!!

"Hey mom...let me in!!!"
"Look mom...we're good!!"
"I'll just let myself out!!"
"LET'S ROCK!!! "
"Yeah...I'm big now...but oh so beautiful!"
"Wow....are those cookies I see in your hand or are you just happy to see us???"
3-3-05: Little "Triton" left with his new daddy for Georgia. He is from Rosie and Orlando's litter. Mr. Holland writes:
Dee,
Thanks for the pictures! My girlfriend was so happy with our new addition. The trip back (both he and Triton flew home) was quite eventful as he had some major accidents in his little carrier and it was everywhere. I had to clean him up during the trip on a couple of occasions. All in all, he tolerated the trip well and slept all night.
Tell your husband thanks for meeting me to deliver the dog...because he was able to meet me, I was able to catch an earlier flight and get home around 10 vs 11:30pm.
We have named him Triton!!! I will send you pictures in a couple of months when he gets a little bigger.
Dear J.,
Yes, motion is a learned sensation and puppies are not born with the ability to tolerate it. I am glad you both were able to get home at a decent time. We look forward in seeing pictures of little Triton as he ages!!! Have a safe year!

Sophie is utterly adorable!!!!!!!! We love her! She has become our world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks! R.
Hi R.,
I am glad she arrive safetly as she only weighed just over 2 lbs. at nearly 8 wks of age. She will most likely be the smallest Goldendoodle we have yet to create. Only time will tell. We look forward in getting some pictures of both as they age. Sophie is out of Rosie and Orlando's liter and is very cute!!!
