The Boston Terrier is the only dog that is very well documented throughout the ages of mankind. Approx. 1865, coachmen who were employed by wealthy people of the Boston area began to interbreed some of their employers' fine dogs. One of the crosses was between an English Terrier and a Bulldog. This mixture resulted in a dog named "Hooper's Judge". This dog weighed well over 30 pounds. Judge was later bred to a smaller female and their son was in turn bred to another smaller female.
Their litters were then subsequently bred to french bulldogs that produced the foundation for the Boston Terrier. By 1889, the breed had become sufficiently popular in the Boston area and fanciers formed the American Bull Terrier Club. This proposed name did not sit well by the Bull Terrier fanciers. The breed's nickname......ROUNDHEAD.....was similarly inappropriate. The breed was eventually named the Boston Terrier since the breed actually originated from the Boston area. Boston is the birthplace of the original Boston Terriers.
This breed rose from nonexistance so fast that the American Kennel Club recognized them in 1893. Breeders continued to seek consistancy in the Boston Terriers. In the early years, color and markings were not particularly important. By the 1900s, this breed's distinctive markings became an essential feature. The Boston Terrier is an attractive little dog who ranks #20 with the AKC. The Boston is a devoted and sensitive little dog who pays close attention to its owners mood and desires. They are well mannered indoors and love to play at every chance.

Some Bostons tend to bark alot, but most of the time, their temperament is really based on how they are raised. Left unattended for too long a period will cause behavioral problems. They are clever, attentive and they are quick to learn. They are also reserved with strangers and can become aggressive toward strange dogs. The Boston Terrier is a very easy dog to maintain. They need little grooming but do enjoy getting plenty of exercise. The Boston Terrier should not be allowed to live outdoors. Their coat is very short and they will chill easily in the winter. Because their muzzle is very short, they can wheeze in the summer and have respiratory problems. They do not tolerate the heat well. Occasional brushing will remove any dead hairs and attention to the ears will prevent any infections that can occur.

The Boston Terrier is a compact dog with square proportions. They are a short-backed, clean cut dog. This breed has determination written all over its face! They are strong, sturdy, hardy, lively dogs who have style and a graceful carriage. The Boston Terrier retains many of the bulldog's attributes. They are a great indoor companion with a short coat....distinctive markings and a wonderful appearance. Their lifespan can range from ten to fourteen years under ideal conditions. They are very sensitive to anesthesia, so it is important for you to know this if you need to take your little pet to a groomer who uses anesthesia to make their job easier or when taking your dog in for surgery or other incidents requiring such use. They are prone to corneal abrasions and deliveries of pups through C-section are common.

The Boston Terrier was originally heavier and bigger than what is available from today's breeders. Selective breeding has produced a very clean-cut dog with intelligence, watchfullness and a kind gentle manner. They are most often described as the National Dog of America, although their short muzzle confirms that they do have bulldog ancestry. Bostons can be brindle or black with white markings. Their tail can be straight or they can have a "screw tail". Their head is square with wide set, intelligent eyes. Their ears are usually pricked. (standing upright.) This is a strong-willed dog but a very good natured house companion. Truely, the Boston Terrier is a dog for those who are selective and enjoy the bulldog look.

Our puppies look like little butter balls when very young! All are born naturally since our sire is smaller than the dam. Our Boston Terriers make wonderful indoor companions...are very active, playful and curious. They make great companions for families with Older children or for couples without children. Boston Terriers are rambunctious as puppies and it is important that if you have older small pets already in your home, that you know there will be a "getting to know each other" period. Older pets who are not use to young puppies can become aggravated by a rambunctious, curious puppy. Boston Terrier puppies can be a bit aggressive with smaller pets and they play very rough with each other. The Boston Terrier is very loving, but can be quite fierce with other dogs they decide they do not like.

As our little Boston babies grow, they are becoming quite characters! Very playful, they romp around and love playing inside their doggie playpen. They carry toys in their mouths......all will grasp onto their food dish and play "tug-o-war" with it. Boston Terrier pups like to play rough with each other and sometimes we have to break up little "tifs" between each other....but that is the sibling rivalry coming out. Our pups have been raised indoors and not outside. Their parents are on our premises and they do live indoors because Boston Terriers do not do well as an outdoor pet.
Boston pups are big eaters and are very chubby and cute! Our Boston Terrier puppies can have brindle in their coat as seen below.....all of these pups are very attractive in appearance.

The photo up above, left, has brindle in his coat. Most of the time, our Boston Terrier puppies have a nice, wide, white collar. The parents to this litter are not that large.
Our sire is smaller than our dam and this helps prevent C-sections. Both parents are 20 pounds or under.
BOSTON TERRIERS CAN BE QUITE FIERCE AND THEY CAN HOLD THEIR OWN EVEN IF ANOTHER DOG IS LARGER THAN THEY ARE.
Our latest litter of Boston Terriers only produced three black and white males as seen above. This litter has sold out. We do not plan for a new litter any time soon, but thank you for inquiring!
Our pudgy Boston Terrier puppies are for family pets only. We do ask that our families spay and neuter please. It is important to read and learn about this breed before inquiring. Boston Terriers are not always "other pet" friendly and they are not always suitable for very young children such as toddlers. We can, however, assure you that our Boston Terrier dam and sire are very sweet, have no health issues, are outgoing dogs who are very intelligent. We have never had to have a C-section with our dam.

Tommy (up above left) is our Boston Terrier proven healthy sire and Samantha (up above right) is our very hardy, healthy dam. Both have the typical Boston Terrier temperament. They are very gentle and sweet loving dogs but are very fierce when it comes to "outside" dogs. They are both indoor dogs because Boston Terriers do not have a thick enough coat to endure very cold winters and because of their nose structure, they do not do well outdoors in the extreme heat. They enjoy living inside where the temperature is controlled. If you are seeking a Boston Terrier as a family pet, we prefer either experienced previous Boston Terrier owners or those who have researched the breed. This breed is not for everyone especially if you are looking for an outdoor dog or a dog for your "toddler". Boston Terriers are not suitable for very young children because they can play a bit too rough. All are extremely intelligent and very loyal dogs to their owners.
Tommy and Samantha when they were teen-agers. They are very spoiled and enjoy living inside.
Meet Bizkit.....he is one of our past Boston Terrier pups from the dam and sire up above. Special thanks to his owner for sending these great photos our way!
