Miss Lola Pippins was born in April 2003; she was sired by our wonderful "Blackie". Lola has an extensive Champion pedigree that is very impressive.
Lola Pippins' pedigree can be viewed on BLACKIE'S page. All of our Standard Poodles can be traced back to a very impressive Standard Poodle named EATON AFFIRMED. Since Lola came to us at one day of age,
she was hand-raised by our kennel until Joy (one of our female Golden Retrievers) had her puppies on April 23, 2003 and was eagerly adopted by her.
Lola has been quite a character since the day she was born! Lola was bottle fed in the beginning and would latch onto our fingers if we didn't give her the bottle quick enough! Even when we would burp her in-between feedings, she would love to grab our fingers with her mouth until she got her bottle back!
Little Lola would sleep on a comfy blanket that laid on top of a heating pad. She was a very content puppy right from the start!
She was quite a big eater......we went through bottles of puppy formula for the first few weeks like you would not believe! Raising an "infant" pup is no picnic and is definitely NOT for the in-experienced. Infant pups need near constant supervision and round the clock feedings on the hour. We were SOOO happy when our Golden Retriever, JOY, could take over to perform the motherly functions.
Lola had lots and lots of small curls and waves through-out her coat right from the start. She and our Goldendoodles looked very much alike at a very young age. As a matter of fact, from the first day of birth up until the age of 4 weeks, Lola and our Goldendoodles looked alot alike. Of course, as Lola grows and gets bigger, the differences are very obvious! Lola's facial hair becomes fuzzier.....her coat is curlier and her face is more narrow...even though they share (when young) a similar round shaped head. (as viewed up above). It is quite startling to see the remarkable similarities between a standard poodle, Golden Retriever and a Goldendoodle puppy when at the same very young age.
For comparison sake......the first picture is Lola......age 6 wks; The second picture is of one of our cream colored Goldendoodle pups born in Feb. of 2003 ...age 6wks and the third picture is of Golden Retriever puppies born in 1999...light golden and at the age of 6wks. You can see that Lola and one of our Goldendoodle pups are about the same size at the age of 6wks....while although sharing a similar coat color and facial structure, the Golden Retriever pups are bigger at the age of 6wks. They also have a flatter coat but as usual, Golden Retriever pups have "wisping"
edges about their legs with little ringlets about their ears. Every single Goldendoodle born to us shares the round shaped head when young.....but there can be one or two in a single litter who remind me of their father in the face...even though they will still have a round shaped head.
Lola has a wonderful temperament.......mainly because her father, Blackie, is a real sweetheart and her mother is just as sweet. Lola's mother was measured at 23" from the withers and Blackie measures 22.5" at the withers.
Our Standard Poodles are quite small compared to some we have seen stand at 27" at the withers and nearly 100 lbs! Our standard Poodles range from 35 lbs. - 65 lbs. We do not expect Lola to become a very large standard Poodle. At the time of this writing, at 6wks of age, she is approx. 4.5 lbs.
Lola meets Joey....our 82 lbs Boxer who does NOT know he is a D.O.G.!!! Joey mentors every single puppy that he comes into contact with! Although he is quite muscular and huge for a Boxer, he is very gentle.....laid back....and allows puppies to roll all over him! Both he and Lola were quite comical playing together...she just didn't know what to think of this huge dog she has just met!
"HEY MISTER....THAT'S MY EAR YOUR PULLING! NOW ITS MY TURN TO BEAT UP ON YA!!!"
Little Lola gets her first poodle puppy cut! She began to play with her hair as if to say..."COME BACK HERE YOU FOOL!"
Lola is such a ham! She seems to know when I am trying to take pictures of her! She looks at me when I am getting the camera ready....then quickly turns her head to the side when I hit the button! She is very playful.......follows me around and loves to stay with me....but we are presently raising her with Joy's Goldendoodle puppies. Lola will be 8wks old June 6, 2003.
6-6-03: AT 8WKS OF AGE, SHE WEIGHS 6 POUNDS!
6-18-03: Miss Lola is 10wks old and will say good-bye to her doodle friends on Friday, June 20th, 2003 as her pals all leave for their new homes. But don't be sad for Miss Lola! She will gain new doodle friends in July & August and Lola has plenty of friends and family here who love her very much!
My how you have grown! Lola will be a year old in April, 2004. She has grown quite a bit!
For 2005, Lola was paired up with Autumn...one of our most experienced Golden Retriever sires for lovely Goldendoodle puppies.....as of May 2007, we have retired Autumn since he is now a senior dog. Autumn is one of our original Golden Retriever sires when we first began as a private breeder. Lola, however, is still a young girl and she is still in our breeding program.
Lola has grown into a very sweet, loving and pretty girl!
Her first litter in 2004 has come and gone. We first paired her up with King....our largest breeding Male Golden Retriever. Now we have paired her up with Autumn and we look forward in seeing her new Goldendoodle babies. We are sure her 2005 litter will be just as beautiful as her 2004 litter!
One of Lola's' beautiful Goldendoodle puppies resides in Ohio and shares his home with another of our beautiful Goldendoodles.....Snickers.....who is chocolate. Rusty is a sweet, apricot boy and as the photo shows...his human pal just couldn't be happier.
